Welcome to Susanna's website. Here you can share her music story and view some of her live performances. 
    Susanna Heystek completed her B.Mus degree summa cum laude (with highest academic achievement) at the Univ of Ottawa. She began playing the violin at age five in her hometown of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.  She went on to study violin in Red Deer and joined the Red Deer Youth and Community Orchestra, of which she was concert master. 
     After graduating high school, she went on to study at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and joined the Artemis Trio.  The trio competed at the provincial level in British Columbia and won first place in the Senior Chamber category. 
    In the summer of 2017, Susanna fell in love with the viola when she attended and performed at the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy, and decided to switch instruments. That same year, she began her studies in viola performance at the University of Ottawa.
    In 2018, Susanna had the honour of being accepted into the National Art Centre Orchestra's apprenticeship program. 
    In 2020, she participated in the Mountainview Chamber Music Festival's online performance,  Convergence.
